About Street Stories:
Produced for SAMSHA to provide professional development in the world of services for the homeless. As is our habit, we focused on the solution—the provider. We aimed to build a sense of pride in this line of work and to interest passing viewers in specific topics on homelessness in much the same way other pieces of entertainment increase interest in certain topics (for example, paleontology via Jurassic Park) but on a smaller niche audience level.
Each video focused on a facet of homelessness from the perspective of the provider. We covered issues such as te-entry from prison, cross-agency collaboration, relapse, relationships in treatment, physicians, and social entrepreneurism. Following the model of the docu-drama, we tried to present the focal characters in three dimensions—highlighting their professional lives but covering outside of work activities that help them keep their balance or influence their work.
